Angus Young, In the style of ~ Jamie Humphreys Page TwoThe time devoted to the guitar lesson is a decent length at least, @ 86 minutes. I like Angus Young and want to learn some licks. I play along to a lot of AC/DC tunes and have 6 or 7 of their discs. I like the older oddly obscure stuff: Mean Streak, Safe in NYC as well as High Voltage, Highway To Hell.
Oeuvre Critics aside, Razors Edge is not the same AC/DC album yet again. This release, 'late' in their career, possesses a more developed sense of fret board sophistication while the tunes are still being being driven by three chord rock.
Inspirational hard rock feeling and drive is what sums up my appreciation of this band. Simple to like not so simple to play rhythmically well. Still this is where to cut your teeth. For Rock Chops. Incidentally Social Distortion and the MC5 also write great 3 chord rock songs. Chuck Berry influenced all these guys and we have some recommended Chuck Berry guitar DVDs on review too.
So Anyway, on disc, If you ask me, AC/DC play in slack tuning a lot. Sometimes in standard tuning too. Take All Night Long for example its in standard tuning in the key of G. At least that's the way I figured it out. Does Angus really play it that way or use open tuning? Will Jamie tell? Enquiring minds want to know. No he doesn't.
Solo One is indicative of all the solo lessons and couldn't fly without the backing rhythm track with that legato soloing style that Angus uses. J.H. is playing lead high up on the neck and once again you need to have your guitar business affairs in order. In order? In order to not be lost and wandering in the I IV V forest frame work which all these songs use. Learn the guitar friendly I IV V in C then transpose to the other guitar friendly keys E, A, G. You aren't going to be taught that here. Additionally real Angus licks? Those are few in this lesson.
