Electric Country Blues II - Jim Weider Page Two

harmony and theory back cover In fact Jim's lesson is the best demonstration of using those intervals in your favorite guitar friendly I IV V positions, as far as practicality goes, that I have seen.

Similar in theory aspect only, I have found another 2 lesson set called mastering guitar harmony I and II or music harmony but this may serve the same purpose if you follow its teachings.

This guitar lesson is advanced. And Jim isn't taking all that many prisoners.

You will possibly feel, if unversed in the foundational basic concepts, which can take years to master, depending on your willingness to work, until you become more facile.

There are a couple of camera moments when you can't see both hands and you really should be able to. Then there are stellar shots of both hands. We prefer that later please.

Jim's Band the Honky Tonk Gurus live up to their name and play us their rendition of Sam Cook's Bring it on Home to Me. Jim explains it to us, still in standard tuning and heavy on the finger picking and bends. These lessons are how and where you could learn to hybrid pick if you really want to take names and kick ass. Your plucking fingers for sure need some time to get used to steel strings so start slow and stop when it starts to hurt. Less is more over time!

I go on to Albert King. Incidentally, there are at least 2 other good Albert King guitar lessons I review.

This from Jim is also good, but shorter, which is only natural, as the other two are exclusively about Albert King. Albert was SRV's and many others, most imitated guitar player. There is lot here to occupy us and all of it worthy, but its best use is the serious guitar hybrid plucker.

As a wanting to learn hybrid picker, I could easily give this 2 disc guitar lesson set an hour a day for a couple of six months, pick in hand and make my own luck.

This hybrid picking style is one you need to approach slowly to avoid blisters. So work your plucking hand fingers gently. Other wise you'll over do it, get "red fingas" won't play for a week and won't relish the thought.

Think about ten or 5-10 minutes a day doing hybrid picking exercises or until your fingers got used the steel strings.
