The Doors ~ Doug Boduch Page Two

Robbie KriegerThis 6 string electric guitar lesson is great and has some of our favorite Doors songs included but no list is perfect.

'Hello I love you' I could live without even though it went number one. It has the synthesizer sound so prevalent back then.

As soon as you choose which song you want to learn from the main menu, there opens a sub menu, featuring 4 rectangular view windows which offer you the choice to see the lesson from the Intro, Players view with Tab, Wide View with Tab and Players view with Pick hand close up. Doug is in the spirit of things playing a red Gibson SG. The Learn to Play Along with the Doors song menu looks like this. Doors' Robbie Krieger left.

back coverWhat they are doing is making one backing track and using that for the different views and also parts of the introductory segment. So the 1st number above is the Intro part and the ' x 3' the different views.

Break on Through to Other Side is a great song with a real nice opening guitar riff. I always wondered about that. The Doors didn't have a bass player so it must have been Ray or Robbie or both writing/interacting with the riffs.

Robbie is the musician moving things along in this song as Doug shows us his repeating moves including a long slide repeated every 2 bars or so. We do a E scale in root position and it looks so simple!

Robbie Krieger incidentally studied classical guitar in his youth and preceded Ywingie and Eddie who, its my understanding, also did, but took it in a different direction.

They didn't have Jim Morrison around either. Mr. Malmsteen and Mr. Van Halen are two musicians, who, if you believe the press, started practicing very early. I guess EVH studied classical piano.

I have an interview with Robbie around here somewhere and he makes a point of keeping a low profile. Robbie Krieger and John Densmore are the only 2 of the Doors left alive in 2020-2022. As you will note from the backing tracks of these lesson presentations the organ or piano part is included and it does make a big contribution to the song.

Hello, I Love You, Wont You Wont Tell Me Your Name is next.
