The songs main guitar is in open G tuning and Michael feels this is the most difficult song of the lesson. He lets us tune to him in open G as above. There is some finger picking in this one which he takes us through and teaches well. Michael explains that to get it right you have to play it with your fingers.
OK I like this lesson. You have to accept it on its own terms however. If you like the Rolling Stones and want to play it pretty much as they do go ahead and buy this bearing in mind the open tunings and slightly off key business.
Also bear in mind many Rolling Stones song books exist in standard tuning saving you the tuning chore and sounding quite good.
Some Rolling Stone song/method books also exist with accompanying CD and many of those do use the open tunings. If you are just starting out I'd be sure to choose what ever suited you most. Can you tune your guitar yet? If not come back to this one later and go buy a chromatic tuner will ya?
