Roy Buchanan is another Telecaster Star like Albert Lee and Albert Collins above. The first of the Roy style licks is in the Key of A using steel guitar type bends and 6th harmonies and also using hybrid picking. We use a lot of frets to play this and its worth knowing. Lick two is also in A and starts on the G string on the fifth fret and stays close to that position. Its a blues lick and uses bends and double stops and is approachable in terms of difficulty. Country flavor...pass the hush puppies please! Roy died in jail under bizarre circumstances yet to be adequately explained. A crying shame!
Danny Gatton! Another late great Tele' Potentate' (Greg's words, bless his vocabulary) is Danny Gatton whom I review elsewhere. This an ethereal sounding lick in the key of E using descending 6th chords and hybrid picking. Lick number two is in the key of C using pentatonic boxes one and two replete with double stops and a country flavor. In part two of the lick we use thirds to slide up to box two and use pick harmonics and chickin' picking. Danny Gatton unfortunately took his own life. This, a tad over half way through the lesson is where I figure you get the general idea already and end my analysis of this guitar lessons individual components.
I am of two minds about it. I love Greg Koch, he is a great musician, articulate and smart as a whip. Plus he gives you extra value so its not like pulling teeth as it is in too many guitar lesson's where they tease and lure. One such is too many.
On the other hand its broad but necessarily shallow due to media length. However when I say its broad you do get insight into 25 different players all in one presentation.
