Classical Guitar - Frederic Hand Page 4/4

Spanish Style and Classical Style Guitar are approximately the same. Oddly enough If you have ever played the original PC game Diablo one and or two, the guitar instrumental is the song; written for Mr. Hand's wife: 'Lesley's Song' that they use in it? Sounds similar. Remember magical trudges through dungeons looking for treasure?

Whoever wrote that, perhaps it was him, knew classical music so he could write unobtrusive background musical guitar scores for games. A career goal in its self perhaps. Another reason to be informed about classical guitar. I'd like a goblet of Mana please make it a double. Back ground music like that uses suspensions, avoids thirds and fifths keeping it from resolving. Jazz does a similar thing.

This would make a great guitar instructional gift even if your kid wants a tattoo and piercing. This will help improve their musicality no matter the style.

Many rockers and jazz players start out with classical guitar including Eddie Van Halen, Ywingie, Joe Satriani and Larry Coryell to name a few. Classical is good to know and will teach you tried and true basic techniques. Its not (for me anyway) "the be all to end all" however!

I know classical players that can't even play the simplest rock songs with any authority. They play a different style with great technique. That doesn't guarantee its better but a truly serious guitar player will think its important to know! Knowledge can be powerful if you apply it!
